CIGAR & MADEIRA LOUNGE
Below ground in Nakasu, a room given over to cigars and Madeira.
If this is your first cigar, we will guide you through them one at a time.
ABOUT
CHARUTO is a cigar bar below ground in Nakasu, Fukuoka.
In one of the largest walk-in humidors in Kyushu, we keep several hundred cigars — from Cuban brands to our own house cigar — with temperature and humidity controlled around the clock. Step up to the shelves and take each one in hand as you choose.
And, as our name suggests, we pour more than 100 varieties of fortified wine from the Portuguese island of Madeira, vintages of the 1850s among them. As a glass to accompany a cigar, we know of nothing finer.
About half of our guests come alone. If cigars are new to you, we begin with something mild and take them one at a time. How to smoke, and how to set a cigar aside partway through — we will show you, so there is nothing you need to know beforehand.
Counter seats. A calm place to pass the evening, even on your own.
OUR OWN CIGAR
A cigar you can smoke nowhere else, in six sizes.
As a bar that carries cigars from around the world, we wanted one that bears our own name.
That cigar is “CHARUTO.” It is available only here. Carried by no other bar, it was made for this room alone.
We offer six sizes, from slim and short to thick and long. The same leaf tastes different as the girth changes — a difference you can confirm for yourself, one cigar at a time.
For first-time guests and regulars alike. Do try one.

DRINK
Cocktails built around your cigar are made after we hear which one you have chosen. The shelves hold spirits that stand up next to smoke. The rum is William Hinton, from the island of Madeira — with that word on our sign, we could hardly leave it out.
For guests who are driving, we keep a full range of non-alcoholic drinks. Our coffee beans are chosen with cigar pairing in mind and brewed in a French press. For tea, Mariage Frères “Marco Polo.”
Our house-made craft cola and craft ginger ale are built from whole spices. They make a fine palate cleanser between cigars as well.
We also make cocktails with fruit of the season.
